Passion successfully reignited for another year
Congress is over for another year and what a Congress it was for me. As well as being immersed in Congress business, it was so nice to be on the south coast by the sea, have some down time to relax with colleagues and enjoy the sea air.

Forever grateful for my YTS experience
I’ve been a qualified nurse for 31 years. I originally wanted to be a policewoman, but I hated sixth form as all my friends had left school, so I left too and joined a Youth Training Scheme (YTS) working in a nursing home.

Farewell and thank you South West - you are the best
Dear All At the RCN EGM on the 29 November a motion of no confidence was passed. Under RCN governance guidance this is not a binding decision. I have nonetheless decided to stand down from the position of Council member for the South West region and Chair of Dorset branch.

Historic vote
These are truly momentous times as RCN members have taken the decision to take strike action for the first time in our 106-year history. Here in the South West region there was an overwhelming vote for action by our members who clearly feel #EnoughIsEnough.

Enough is enough. A vote for strike is the only way we can be heard
Things feel really tough for us all at the moment, but we must not be silent; our voice needs to be heard loudly and clearly by the government. Enough is enough.

We are facing the most difficult time for over 30 years.
Inflation (CIPH rate) is expected to soon be 9%, interest rates have increased to 1.75%, utility bills increased by 54% last April and are expected to rise again in October. We cannot meet these demands with a pay award of between 2.5 and 4.5 %
