The Student Award is open to all pre-registration nursing and midwifery students in Northern Ireland. The award aims to recognise and reward excellence in professional education.
Who can be nominated?
Nominees for the Student Award must either be undertaking a preregistration nursing programme or have successfully completed their programme within the last six months in Northern Ireland. Please check that the person you wish to nominate is content for you to nominate them. Nominations must be made by someone who is familiar with the work of the nominee.
How to apply?
Fill out the application form below and complete a summary (up to 500 words) describing the work or project the student is involved in.
Candidates will be required to demonstrate that they were instrumental in setting up a project or undertaking an initiative that benefited patients OR that they have made an exceptional difference to patient care; evidence of leadership skills and academic excellence. Evidence to support nominations could include:
- summary detail or information from portfolios
- statements that include evidence of exceptional nursing practice from: lecturers, teaching or other educational and development staff who have experience of the student’s impact on patient care; or nursing staff who have worked with the student such ward sisters charge nurses, mentors or other clinical and care staff.
- evidence of the student’s contribution to the promotion and delivery of the essential aspects of nursing care through, for example, the essence of care initiative.
