RCN Northern Ireland Nurse of the Year Award

The RCN Northern Ireland Nurse of the Year Award is open to all registered nurses and midwives working in all health care sectors in Northern Ireland. The awards are aimed at nurses and midwives who have succeeded in raising standards of care for their patients and clients.
Nominations are invited from fellow health care professionals. Candidates will be required to demonstrate that they were instrumental in setting up a project, or have initiated and led changes in practice, that have had a demonstrable benefit for patient or client care.
Who can be nominated?
Nominees for the RCN Northern Ireland Nurse of the Year Award must be either in the process of completing a project or have initiated and led changes in practice within 18 months of entering the competition. Please check that the person you wish to nominate is content for you to nominate them. Nominations must be made by someone who is familiar with the work of the nominee.
How to apply
Fill out the application form below and complete a summary (up to 500 words) about the project or work changes in practice incorporating the following information:
- project title and description
- motivation for project or changes in nursing practice including any research or evidence associated with this
- the contribution that has been made to patient care
- an outline of the workplace environment
- any negotiations undertaken before the project began
- the impact the work has had on patients or clients and colleagues • how the work or practice has been evaluated.
