This year we’ll be breaking down some of the preconceptions that may exist about nursing support workers and highlighting why the role is essential within the nursing workforce.

This is the fourth year we’ve celebrated the vital contribution nursing support workers make to health and social care as we showcase their incredible work and the difference they make to the lives of patients, families and carers.

Kevin Morley, Chair of the RCN UK Nursing Support Workers Committee, said: “The depth and breadth of work carried out by nursing support workers is often hidden and their value underestimated. Nursing Support Workers’ Day is an opportunity to amplify their voices, raise awareness, say thank you and celebrate the work they do.”

To help you celebrate in your workplaces, you can order free Nursing Support Workers’ Day badges from the RCN website and buy an enamel badge from the RCN shop. To help raise awareness of the day, we also have a digital poster and images for social media you can download.

RCN members who are nursing support workers are also invited to a conference at RCN headquarters in London on the day.

“The conference is a great opportunity for nursing support workers to hear from inspiring speakers, take part in creative sessions, network and meet fellow peers and colleagues from across the UK,” Kevin added.
