RCN members can now explore 6 inspiring new modules, all about research. Co-developed by the RCN and King’s College London and funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research, they highlight the multi-disciplinary nature of clinical research and the vital contribution nursing staff bring.
The resources are relevant to the whole nursing workforce, with topics including: getting involved in clinical research, demystifying approaches to quality improvement and service evaluation, and good governance and ethical considerations in clinical research.
Professor Jane Ball, Director of the RCN Institute of Nursing Excellence, said: “High-quality research is vital for us to be able to influence and inform education, policy and clinical practice.
“This fantastic suite of resources has been designed to inspire nursing staff to engage in the design and delivery of research at different stages of their careers.”
This project is part of work being undertaken by the RCN Institute of Nursing Excellence, which is made up of 5 academies. Dr Ada Hui, UK Professional Lead for Research, drives research across the Institute to underpin the work of the academies, deliver improvements and innovation, bringing research to life for the nursing workforce in all disciplines.
These research modules offer a suite of resources to support nursing staff to think about how research can be embedded in everyday working, continuing professional development and career opportunities. High-quality research and evidence is integral to informing clinical practice, policy, education and improving patient outcomes.
The free research e-learning modules can be accessed via NIHR Learn. Once logged in you can find the courses via the research workforce training tab and then Royal Colleges Learning Programmes.
