31 Dec 2024

Nursing's outstanding contribution in health and care in Scotland recognised

Buckingham Palace Commenting on the New Year Honours List 2025, RCN Scotland Director Colin Poolman said:

“It is fantastic to see so many names from those in health and care in Scotland who have been recognised in the New Year honours.

“Alex McMahon, until earlier this year Chief Nursing Officer for Scotland and a former Associate Director of RCN Scotland, and Ann Gow, Deputy Chief Executive, Healthcare Improvement Scotland, are both deservedly honoured for their services to nursing over their distinguished careers.

“The work and tireless dedication to nursing and your patients of all those honoured act as an inspiration to all of us. They should be proud of what they do in representing the very best of the profession.

“Nursing is held in the highest regard by the public and we should be encouraged to see our highly skilled colleagues acknowledged in this way. It is hoped this will bring even more people into a hugely fulfilling career.”
