This award aims to recognise those who have made an outstanding contribution to the care of patients or residents in their nursing support worker role.

Colleagues describe Angela as a highly dedicated and hardworking care support worker known for her kindness, enthusiasm and commitment. With 28 years experience, she consistently advocates for the individual needs of the residents in her care and is well-liked and respected by both residents and peers for her compassionate approach.

Angela is currently leading a successful project called ‘Strength and Balance’ aimed at improving residents' health in care homes and, despite challenges, has ensured the project's continuation and positive outcomes, earning praise from residents and families.

Not satisfied with only caring for her residents, she also finds the time to fundraise and further support their holistic needs – a true representation of going the extra mile.

Congratulating Angela on her Award win, Colin Poolman, RCN Scotland Executive Director said: “Nursing support worker job titles and roles may vary, depending on the area in which they are working, but they share the same values. Angela has shown just how integral and valuable nursing support workers are to the nursing team. I applaud her passion and outstanding contribution to the care of her residents, their families and her colleagues”.

Congratulations to runner up, David Mclaughlin, HCSW Education and Development Lead in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, and our highly commended finalist Gemma Walker, HCSW Associate Practice Educator in the Practice Development Team at NHS Tayside.
