Learning event
Donna Scarrott is a Sister in the Discharge Lounge at Alexandra Hospital who lives and works with a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy.
She is Chair of the Diverse Ability Working Network (DAWN) at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, an active network of allies and colleagues who live, work or care for someone with a long-term condition or disability.
The aim of the network is to provide a platform to share experiences and good practices and to examine challenges and opportunities in the workplace to create a culture where all staff feel valued, supported, understood, and treated with dignity, respect, and kindness.
In this session, she will share her experience of living and working with a disability and outline some of the things the network has done to make the workplace more inclusive for disabled people.
Come along and help make a difference by shaping local branch activities for the year ahead and electing your branch committee members. You can even stand for election yourself if you want to get more involved! The AGM is an opportunity for you to shape the future of your branch, have your say on how it's run and learn more about the activities it undertakes.
If you're new to the RCN and this is your first AGM, please get involved - it's a great way to meet colleagues and other RCN members and influence the year ahead.
This meeting is being held online via Microsoft Teams.
To register your attendance, please book your place here. Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email which includes the link to join the Microsoft Teams meeting on the day.
You will need to log-in to your RCN account before booking. If you don't have an RCN account, it's a really simple process to create one - just follow the steps provided.
You do not need to have the Microsoft Teams app to join the meeting, you can join using the web browser of any internet-enabled device.
Could you help lead the branch?
If you're interested in getting more involved in the work of the branch, why not consider standing for one of the branch committee posts, which includes branch chair, secretary and treasurer? Please read the RCN governance branch role descriptions for these roles to check your eligibility and capacity.
Being a branch committee member is a great personal and professional development opportunity. You can nominate yourself for a position on the committee for 2025 by completing the nomination form before the AGM.
