Join nurse and author Max Austin as he talks about ‘coming out’ in the early 1990s and describes his own experiences of working as a gay nurse in the aftermath of Section 28 and the HIV/Aids era.
Max’s debut bio-fictional LBGTQIA+ novel ‘How Can We Be Wrong?’ was published recently and in this session he will talk openly about his gut-wrenching experiences of being prescribed an almost lethal mixture of bullying, bigotry and rejection from the very nursing community he represents today.
He will take us on an emotional rollercoaster as he discusses the social, political, and personal impact of ‘coming out’ within the early 1990s and, with frank honesty, will describe what it was like working as a gay nurse in the aftermath of Section 28 and the HIV/Aids era.
