RCN Cornwall Branch AGM and Insight into Mental Health Care Study Day
07 Nov 2024, 09:00 - 16:00
Choose event information:
Book now and brush up on your knowledge around mental health while helping your local activists to vote in next year's team and approve your RCN reps for the year ahead.
Your AGM is the most important day in you local branch's calendar. Branch members help to ratify RCN reps for a further year of supporting members, and they vote in a new executive committee to run the branch from 1 January to 31 December the following year. Cornwall's AGM will be accompanied by a study day focusing on mental health.
Register at 9:00 am for a 9:30 am start.
Mental health presentation topics for the study day programme:
- psychosis
- emotional dysregulation and self harm
- mental health in LD and autism or restorative supervision (subject to confirmation - please refer back for updates or if you book now we will send you the programme prior to the day).
Branch AGM and executive committee roles up for nomination
The day will incorporate our branch AGM too, so you can get involved in ensuring our reps are ratified for another year, and electing our branch executive committee - or going for a position on it.
While there is a time commitment involved with being on a branch committee and you do have to volunteer during some of your own time, being on our executive could lead you to some interesting places and people you might otherwise never encounter. It could also give you some added skills and experience that could stand you in good stead both personally and professionally.
Have a read of our 'Branch role descriptor' poster (and you would really be helping us if you displayed it in your work area).
You could also read the more formal governance document that goes into a bit more detail, as well as our branch election procedure if you are tempted to get involved and wish to be fully informed.
If you are interested, please submit a nomination form before the AGM date.
Email it to the regional office at southwestern.region@rcn.org.uk stating clearly what branch and position you are referring to.
Please note: members who fill this document in and submit it before the meeting take precedence over those who self-nominate on the day so don't get caught out.
Further reading
If you are a detail-orientated person, you may be interested in all our other branch-related governance documents (however please don't feel obliged to read these, it is not expected of you):
