Reps across England are warmly invited to join a live Q&A to find out more about the roll out of the AfC national nursing profile work..
As you may be aware, the NHS Staff Council has issued an update to Agenda for Change nursing profiles, and many organisations are already starting preparations.
This update, due to be published on 2 June 2025, will affect all Agenda for Change NHS nursing profiles.
You are invited to join this webinar to hear from RCN England pay lead Danny Heppell and RCN national lead for job evaluation, Michelle Woods, to discuss these changes with you and explain how you can help shape our plans.
This changes come following an RCN request to NHS staff council as evidence showed:
- The profiles had not been reviewed or updated since their implementation in 2004. As such they have failed to keep pace with significant changes in nursing and the wider delivery of health and care.
- The profiles are not an accurate reflection of modern nursing.
- Many of our members working within the NHS believe their pay level or band is inappropriate for the work they currently do.
What are the changes?
The RCN ask was to:
- Ensure that the update profiles accurately reflected the role appropriate to the banding.
- That they created a clear demarcation between the bands to support career progression.
- To ensure consistency across other professional groupings.
This work has been completed, and while we are not entirely happy, the profiles now better reflect the different roles and create a clearer step change between bands. This should support career progression, particularly within the band 5 workforce.
Why should you attend?
This is one of the biggest opportunities to reset nursing pay and we are developing our plans on how we will progress this work. In the meantime, there is work we can start to do.
As an RCN rep you will be integral to this work and we want to involve you from the very beginning.
There is no need to book on - simply follow the "join now" button at 11am on 17 April to join the Teams meeting. We look forward to seeing you.
