This session aims to deliver practical, up-to-date learning for Independent Health and Social Care nursing team staff. It focuses on long-term condition oversight and management to enhance clinical knowledge, professional confidence, and patient outcomes.
Nursing professionals working in independent, health, and social care settings often face significant barriers to accessing continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities. Limited time, funding constraints, and a lack of targeted education mean these staff members may miss vital updates on managing complex and evolving healthcare needs. With long-term conditions accounting for a significant portion of health service demand, ensuring these teams have access to evidence-based knowledge and skills is crucial.
Overview of the session
Draft agenda, to be confirmed:
- Respiratory Care: Best practices for inhaler techniques and effective breathlessness management.
- Diabetes Care: Practical Updates in Oral Medication and Introduction to Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM).
- Bowel Care: Recognising, monitoring and managing constipation.
- Colostomy Care: Identification of deterioration and “red flag” symptoms.
- Bladder Health: Avoiding overprescribing antibiotics and clarifying the appropriate use of urinalysis.
This session is designed to deliver practical, evidence-based learning to enhance your professional knowledge.
