This training is suitable for GPs, nurses, psychologists, counsellors, mental health and safeguarding practitioners, social prescribers, and anyone working with young people in a health care setting.
Topics include:
- How young people are increasingly exposed to gaming and gambling harm
- The influence of advertising, social media, in game purchases, loot boxes, skin betting and Esports
- Gambling products, the risks and associated harms
- The young brain, decision making, addiction and motivation
- Guilt, shame and self-stigma as a key barrier to seeking help
- Example case study scenarios
- Signs of harm, having a conversation with time limited contact, planning, potential screening questions, follow-ups and signposting.
