This event will be co-delivered by a group of people with learning disabilities and registered nurses specialising in learning disabilities. It will focus on the health inequalities faced by individuals with learning disabilities and the barriers to fair access to health care. The session will cover topics such as reasonable adjustments, complex care, and practical solutions that delegates can apply across various health care settings. Drawing from the Learning Disability Mortality Reviews (LeDeR) and lived experiences, the session will provide authentic insights into the challenges faced by people with learning disabilities. Attendees will gain valuable knowledge on improving care delivery, identifying necessary changes in practice, and supporting equitable health care access for this group. Relevant to all roles and practice levels, this session highlights the growing awareness and need for tailored support for individuals with learning disabilities in health and social care settings.
