Northumberland, Tyne and Wear branch meeting including a presentation on Fitness To Practise from the NMC
21 Jul 2025, 13:30 - 16:00
Choose event information:
The NMC is the independent regulator of more than 841,000 nurses, midwives and nursing associates. Their vision is safe, effective and kind nursing and midwifery practice for everyone.
If someone raises concern about someone’s skills, behaviour and their right to be on the NMC register, their case will go through the Fitness to Practise process.
This process allows the NMC to understand as quickly as possible whether a registered professional presents a risk to the public.
If they find that they do, the NMC can take steps to promote learning and prevent issues arising again.
This session will outline what Fitness to Practise is, what it's like to be involved in a Fitness to Practise allegation, and what exactly happens when the NMC get involved.
One thing is certain - RCN members will not go through the process alone. We are here to support our members throughout their careers no matter what they go through. Being referred can be a stressful time in anyone's career, but we are always here for our members to support them every step of the way.
