Please support your local RCN activists at your branch AGM.
Join us to help ensure we can approve Cumbria's RCN reps to continue supporting RCN members for a further year, and elect our branch executive committee - or you could go for a position on it.
We have the following branch executive committee vacancies coming up, for a term of office from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025:
- president
- chair
- vice chair
- secretary
- treasurer
- two executive committee members. (These members could focus on a particular aspect of branch affairs, such as EDI, communications, students, nursing support workers, or anything you want that would be useful or you feel is needed in Cumbria).
Have a read of our 'Branch role descriptor' poster or the more formal governance document going into a bit more detail, as well as our branch election procedure and see if you are tempted to get involved.
If you are, please submit a nomination form to northern.region@rcn.org.uk by a week before the meeting, identifying which seat you are interested in standing for and for which branch.
RCN governance rules state that those who fill a nomination form in and submit it before the meeting must take precedence over those who self-nominate on the day. You must therefore send in any expression of interests into the northern regional office in advance of the AGM and only if no one has put themselves forward before the AGM can anyone then be invited to do so verbally at the AGM itself.
While there is a time commitment involved and you do have to volunteer during your leisure time, being on our executive could lead you to some interesting places and people you might otherwise never have encountered. It could also give you some skills and experience that stand you in good stead both personally and professionally.

Congress voting members needed for Liverpool next 12-15 May next year
We are looking for expressions of interest from members keen to be fully funded branch voting members at RCN Congress in Liverpool next year.
The deadline for applications is 2 December. Please let the regional office know that you're interested in a voting place before that date.
Spread the word
Help us raise awareness this is happening with our poster and by word of mouth, and if you know anyone who would thrive in a branch executive role, please encourage them to go for it. It can be a life-changing experience.
