This session will present the findings of the RCN’s 2024 national survey on nurses' confidence in addressing the needs of individuals with learning disabilities and autism in mental health services. Following the RCN’s 2023 position statement on health inequalities for autistic people, the session will offer a summary of survey results and recommendations, along with additional insights from Experts by Experience.

Attendees will be invited to contribute their perspectives to help shape the RCN’s response to the findings. The session will also highlight the use of the Green Light Toolkit (GLT), a framework for assessing services for individuals with learning disabilities and autism. Nurses, students, and nursing support workers in mental health and learning disabilities will have the opportunity to reflect on their competencies, identify training needs, and discuss the challenges and solutions within their areas of practice.
