  • Room 3A, Exhibition Centre Liverpool, King's Dock, Port of Liverpool, Liverpool, L3 4FP
Submitted by the RCN Nursing Education Team in collaboration with the Public Health Forum
This event will provide an update on the RCN resolution of Congress 2024 to integrate genomics into nursing practice. Using a question-and-answer format, the session will highlight the relevance of genomics, particularly pharmacogenomics. Case studies and vignettes will illustrate how genomics is becoming a standard part of nursing practice, with a focus on its implications for patient care. Aimed at the wider nursing workforce—the session will be accessible to those new to genomics and those who may be sceptical of its value in practice. The session will also discuss the potential efficiency and cost savings of pharmacogenomics. Attendees will leave with a basic understanding of genomics, its application in their practice, and resources to further their genomic development. This session is especially beneficial for nursing leaders, including chief nurses and directors of nursing.
