RCN Eastern accredited representatives are invited to our next rep continuous learning and development session where we will focus on the RCN Nursing Workforce Standards.
Join us as we explore how you can use the RCN Nursing Workforce Standards to effect change in your workplace.

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Nursing Workforce Standards set out our expectations for safe and effective staffing across the UK.
The Standards are a blueprint for tackling nursing staff shortages across the UK. They support the nursing workforce to be safe and effective. They set the standards for high quality, evidence-based patient/service user care in all health and care settings in the UK, working with each nation’s legislation.
There are 14 Standards, grouped into three themes: Responsibility and Accountability; Clinical Leadership and Safety, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, that can be applied to any service in which nursing staff are engaged and nursing care is delivered.
This online session will enable you to develop a sound understanding of how you can use these standards to effect positive change in your workplace. You will have the opportunity to hear from subject experts and from nurses who are currently working in healthcare settings and using the standards themselves. You will be given time to ask questions, gain access to resources and explore how the standards could support improved nursing provision and patient care in your own setting.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Explain what the RCN workforce standards are and why they are an import tool for reps.
- Use the Standards Checklist to identify any gaps in their current workplaces.
- Be confident how to use online tools and resources to support workplace improvements.
- Understand what a ‘Workforce Standards Champion’ is, how to become one and how to recruit others to the role.
