Women’s health has long faced underinvestment, with gynaecology particularly impacted, as highlighted in the 2024 Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists report, which identifies gynaecology as having the longest waiting lists, many of which have not recovered since the pandemic. Many women with debilitating conditions are deteriorating while waiting for care, with some experiencing red-flag symptoms that could signal cancer or other long-term health issues. This session will focus on identifying these red-flag symptoms, promoting health education, and addressing cancer prevention. Aimed at all delegates, as well as women seeking to better understand their health, the session will provide guidance on recognising these symptoms and references best practices from across the UK. Delegates will gain knowledge of key red flags, the principles of effective assessment, and available resources for signposting and support, benefiting both patients and the predominantly female nursing workforce.
