The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) in Wales is thrilled to see a remarkable 23% increase in acceptances onto nursing courses, with the number of students rising from 800 to 980.
Today’s release of the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) Level 3 results, including A-level outcomes by the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), marks a significant achievement for the nursing profession in Wales. This surge underscores the growing interest in nursing as a vital and rewarding career path.
RCN Wales is encouraged by this positive trend, which reflects the dedication of educators, health care professionals and policy makers in promoting nursing as an essential pillar of our health care system. As we continue to face challenges, such as workforce shortages and increased demand for health care services, the influx of new nursing students is a vital step towards ensuring a robust and sustainable health care system for the future.

According to the latest figures from UCAS released today (Thursday 15 August), the number of acceptances to study nursing in Wales were 980. This is an increase from the previous year of 190 (23%).
