Royal College of Nursing responds to passing of Rwanda Bill

Press Release 23/04/2024

Responding to the Rwanda Bill passing in Parliament, Professor Pat Cullen, RCN General Secretary and Chief Executive, said:

“The Rwanda Bill is a deeply inhumane piece of legislation which represents a significant backward step in asylum and human rights policy.

"The UK health and care community has repeatedly raised concerns about the scheme which will see some of the most vulnerable people in the world, including those with serious and complex physical and mental health conditions, forcibly expelled thousands of miles away.

“As the Rwanda Bill becomes law, the Royal College of Nursing will continue to oppose the government’s approach to asylum on medical, ethical and humanitarian grounds.”
