RCN Wales Library for independent health and social care

Katrina Hall 3 Jul 2024

How RCN Wales members working in the independent health and social care (IHSC) sector can make use of all that our library and information service has to offer.

rcn wales library

Hello, my name is Katrina and I’m the RCN Wales Librarian and Information Services Manager. I'm based at RCN Wales HQ, Ty Maeth in Cardiff. I started in post in April 2024 so I’m still a ‘newbie’ at RCN Wales. Having worked in libraries with health care professionals, nursing staff and students for almost 30 years in the NHS and Higher Education sectors, I’m delighted to take this role with RCN Wales.

Onsite

As a member of RCN Wales, you have access to the RCN Wales Library space, services and resources. At Ty Maeth we have study spaces and soft seating areas where you can work or read and plenty of space to plug in your own device.

Our print book collection is added to regularly. Members can borrow up to eight books for four weeks and can renew these books if no one else is looking for the titles. We are happy to post books out to your home address if coming to Ty Maeth is not an option.

We have black and white and colour printing, scanning and photocopying facilities available.

Online

Members also have 24/7 access to our online resources. See what's available.

You can use RCN Library Search to check which print books, journal articles and eBooks are available. Simply enter the title in the search bar and click the green button to search.

You may find this short video on how to use the RCN Library Search helpful.

Our easy to use Subject Guides link to key resources, e-books and journals. You might find our guides on care homes, care of older people, dementia, HCAs, APs and TNAs, medicines management and safeguarding particularly useful. See all the subject guides.

Our literature search webpages offer advice on how to carry out a search and get the most from your searching and we also offer a literature search service for health care support workers and registered nurse members.

Happy to help

If you have a library enquiry or information need, please do pop into the library Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm, give me a call on 029 2089 3087 or send me a email.
