The passion and tenacity of our members saw lecturers and students coming together last Friday to protest against the proposal from Cardiff University to close its School of Nursing.
RCN Wales staff worked with our RCN Students Committee member for Wales, Lauren Healan, and RCN student ambassadors to organise the protest outside the School of Nursing at Ty Dewi Sant, to enable the voices of students and staff to be heard.
The support was overwhelming. RCN General Secretary and Chief Executive, Professor Nicola Ranger, joined us on the day and opened the event with a speech, letting our students know that we will support them and work with them on this campaign. All the speakers spoke with passion about how the proposal to withdraw the nursing school would have a lasting impact upon the NHS, patient care and safety, and the future of nursing in Wales.
You can support this campaign by signing the petition to enable Cardiff University to keep the Nursing degree course.
