How you can get involved and stay informed

With the Independent Health and Social Care Sector in Yorkshire & the Humber

Michelle Raddings 11 Feb 2025

Michelle Raddings, Yorkshire & the Humber region IHSC lead nurse looks at the months ahead and how you can get involved and stay informed.

What’s coming over the next few months?

As we step into 2025, an exciting year lies ahead starting with the return of our Lunch and Learn webinars! Our first session kicks off on 27 February at 12.30pm, where we’ll be joined by Anthony Birmingham and Karen Roberts, your Social Care Nurse Advisory Council Chairs. They’ll share insights into their roles, discuss regional priorities, and highlight how their work directly supports you as health and social care professionals. It’s completely free to attend and we’d love to see you there - so book your place here.

On 25 March, our focus shifts to dementia care. An expert panel, along with our Professional Lead for Care of Older People, Sally Wilson will join us for an in-depth discussion. Once again, it’s free to attend, so grab a cuppa and tune in! Secure your spot here.

Out and about

One of the most rewarding parts of my role is visiting our IHSC nursing workforce in their workplaces. Last year, we had the privilege of speaking with nursing staff at a  reception prison, gaining valuable insights into their working environment. These visits are incredibly beneficial for us, and we’d love to do more!

If you’d like me to visit your workplace, then please do get in touch - you can contact me here.

What’s new

Members told us they wanted a dedicated space for peer networking, so in 2024, we launched a joint regional network and a regional webpage just for you.

The network has already met twice - once in October 2024 and again in January 2025. New members are always welcome, so check out our webpage for more details, upcoming dates, and to book your spot at the next meeting. You can find more on the Yorkshire & the Humber IHSC Network here.
