From Honoured to Inspired: Why I encourage you to nominate a colleague for an RCN Award

Victoria, RCN Student Ambassador of the Year 2022, tells us about her experience of winning an RCN Award and the impact it had on her.

I was nominated for my work as a Student Ambassador, encouraging other students to go to Congress and attend branch meetings.

When I heard that I had actually won, I was completely blown away. RCN Awards are so prestigious.

My friends and family in Nigeria were so excited for me, and it was really beautiful to be recognised in that manner.

It inspired me to become an RCN Steward and Vice-Chair of my RCN branch and motivated me in my career. I’m now a band 7 Clinical Lead Practitioner in community mental health.

It would be really great to see more nominations coming in for members from ethnic minorities.

So please get involved and make a nomination today.
