What Will You Learn: 

This course offers essential knowledge and skills to provide compassionate and effective care for individuals nearing the end of their lives. You will explore fundamental principles that guide dignified end-of-life care, focusing on the needs of the dying person, their loved ones and carers. By the end of this course, you will be better equipped in the following areas:

1. Identifying the signs of imminent death:

  • Recognise the signs and symptoms that indicate a person is approaching the end of life. 

2. Compassionate communication: 

  • Learn how to engage in sensitive conversations with the dying person and their loved ones. 
  • Understand the importance of emotional support throughout the dying process and after death. 

3. Empowering decision-making: 

  • Involve the patient and their family in critical decisions about end-of-life care. 
  • Respect their wishes and preferences. 

4. Holistic support: 

  • Address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the dying person, their family and carers. 
  • Provide appropriate resources and practical assistance. 

5. Personalised care plans: 

  • Develop individualised care plans tailored to each person’s unique needs and values. 
  • Deliver care with compassion, empathy and respect.
