I’d like to ask for half an hour of your time to discuss beginning the process of job evaluation. The NHS job evaluation scheme is open to anyone who believes their role has significantly changed since they were recruited into the post.

I’ve done some preparatory work, comparing my day-to-day responsibilities with those on my job description. I’ve used guidance from the RCN and the NHS Job Evaluation Handbook to complete this work. I’ve identified significant differences between the reality of my role and my job description, and I have evidence to support this.

I would now like to discuss next steps with you.

During our meeting, I’d be grateful if we could:

  • Run through my preparatory work and supporting evidence
  • Agree that I should begin updating my job description with the changes I’ve identified
  • Book in another meeting for us to continue our conversation after I’ve updated my job description.
