RCN Scotland responds to publication of Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Action Plan
The publication this week of the Scottish government’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Action Plan recognises the essential clinical role of nursing in Scotland’s mental health services. It also acknowledges the need for significant improvements in workforce planning as well as action to tackle recruitment and retention challenges in mental health nursing.

The latest NHS Scotland workforce statistics published today, show over 4,000 registered nurse posts across Scotland remained vacant at the end of March. This equates to 8.5% of posts.
