This session will address the unique challenges of managing diabetes in older adults, focusing on age-related changes, common co-morbidities, medication management, and promoting self-care. Through case studies and evidence-based guidelines, attendees will learn how to tailor care plans to meet the physical, cognitive, and social needs of older adults with diabetes. Aimed at all delegates, the session will equip attendees with the knowledge and skills to improve outcomes for this vulnerable population. Drawing on guidelines from the American Diabetes Association, International Diabetes Federation, and NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence), the session will provide insights into global recommendations and strategies for managing complex diabetes care in older adults. Key learning outcomes include understanding the physiological and psychosocial aspects of care, identifying and managing common co-morbidities, and applying international best practices in geriatric diabetes care.
