14 May 2025, 12:30 - 13:15

  • Room 1C, Exhibition Centre Liverpool, King's Dock, Port of Liverpool, Liverpool, L3 4FP
Submitted by the Mental Health Forum in collaboration with the General Practice Nursing Forum

This session will address the significant challenges and distress that many nurses face with suicidal thoughts, emphasising the importance of having difficult conversations. It will raise awareness about the prevalence of suicide and suicidal ideation within the nursing profession and provide an update on the progress of the 2024 RCN report, “Understanding the factors underpinning suicidal ideation amongst the UK nursing workforce from 2022 to 2024.”

The session will highlight current national research, best practices from the USA, and the support available to protect nurses from suicide. Aimed at nurses and nursing support workers, the session will reduce stigma, encourage help-seeking behaviours, and provide insight into supporting colleagues in need. Participants will gain knowledge on the latest research, understand the available support networks, and explore strategies to improve wellbeing and prevent suicide in the nursing workforce.
