14 May 2025, 17:45 - 18:30

  • Room 3A, Exhibition Centre Liverpool, King's Dock, Port of Liverpool, Liverpool, L3 4FP
Submitted by the RCN Eastern Region Board in collaboration with the Retired Members’ Network
This session offers an interactive, member-led discussion on the current DoLS, addressing concerns about their safety and effectiveness. Led by RCN members with a special interest in this area, it will explore the lived experiences of those subject to DoLS, as well as the perspectives of health care professionals involved in their care. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges these safeguards present and their relevance to both clinical practice and personal life.

The session is aimed at members working in mental health, the care sector, and anyone with an interest in the topic. It will provide opportunities for networking and sharing insights, particularly for those working with individuals who may be subject to DoLS.

Delegates will leave with an understanding of DoLS and their relevance to clinical practice; be able to evaluate the pros and cons of the legislation; and gain insight into the lived experiences of those affected by DoLS.
