Supporting Band 2 to Band 3 at QA, Portsmouth
We are seeking your support to ensure HCSW’s are paid at the right Band.
We are, as a group of Band 2 HCSW’s in ED, asking you to show the Trust that we are valued members of the nursing team, that we contribute effectively to patient care, and we deserve to be paid correctly.
What is the change?
In April 2021 NHS employers changed the job profile of the band 2 and band 3 HCSW.
Band 2 HCSW’s deliver personal care, Band 3 HCSW’s deliver delegated tasks over and above personal care. For example, taking observations, taking blood, cannulation, and ECG’s.
You can see the detail here National job profiles | NHS Employers
What are we asking for?
We want the Trust to deliver this change in Banding to match the correct job profiles.
We believe we provide an essential service to the Emergency Department and without us, the department would not be able to manage its busy workload. We provide a range of extended clinical activities, all via competency-based training, and this clearly fits a Band 3 job profile.
If you are able to provide your support to help the Trust acknowledge the importance of this change, you will be adding to the voice of nursing and will help HCSW’s to be recognised for the work they do.
