Our strategy and how we represent our forum members

Find out more about the CYP: Staying Healthy Forum's plans and how forum members are represented

Who we are and what we do

We are the RCN’s Children and Young People Staying Healthy Forum. This includes areas of work delivered by professionals/services such as CAMHS, Health Visiting, School Nursing, Look After Children and Safeguarding. We regularly engage and represent the RCN at national meetings to ensure the Nursing voice helps to influence policy and practice changes. By bringing Children and Young People’s Nurses who work in these services together with National stakeholders, we have developed guidelines that are used in everyday practice. We are also a place for those working or interested in these areas of work to seek support, network, learn and develop.

Forum Committee

When fully recruited to, we have 7 Forum Committee Members including our Chair Gemma Trainor. As committee members we have a wide range of specialist interests and are keen to add to this growing list.

Current areas of specialist interest include

Public health such as preventative care and tackling health inequalities, the safeguarding of babies, children and young people, CYP mental health, adolescent health, CYP in care and care leavers, the voice of young people with lived experience.

Specialist Interest areas we’re looking to add to: childhood obesity, workforce, Student Nurses, adolescent health, and safeguarding.

How to get involved

If you’re interested in joining the forum or want to know more about supporting us as one of our Specialist Interest Link Roles then please contact us at cypadmin@rcn.org.uk.

Through our committee members and specialist link roles we help inform work that goes across the five CYP Forums to support a collaborative approach. The other CYP forums are: Specialist Care, Acute Care, Continuing and Community Care and Professional Issues. You can find out more about them here.
