Respected as a safety-critical profession

Our campaign for proper recognition of nursing expertise, training and experience

We can’t allow ourselves to be compromised by a system that undervalues and underfunds nursing.

Nursing professionals are the backbone of the health and care system. We see what society needs. When there is a problem, we must identify it quickly. When there is an emergency, we must react decisively.

For our health and social care system to be what it should be, it’s vital that nursing professionals are respected for their expertise and experience.

It's time for nursing to be properly recognised as a safety-critical profession. It's time to show the world what modern nursing looks like.

Join us to demand better.

Championing the role and complexity of nursing

Nursing is a highly skilled, safety-critical profession. But outdated notions of nursing mean we don't always receive the recognition we deserve. We're determined to change this. That's why we've set out what happens at each level of nursing.

By understanding and championing the realities of modern nursing among other health care professionals and the public, together we can set the record straight. Let's fight for better recognition of our profession.

Calling out unsafe practices

We all have a duty to call out unsafe practices when we see them. Unsafe practices may have become so normalised in your workplace that raising them can feel daunting and uncomfortable.

Our raising concerns toolkit is here to help, covering all the essentials to help you get started.
