POLICY: Proposals to introduce a statutory duty of candour for all health and social care services

17 December 2014
The RCN Scotland response to the Scottish Government consultation on proposals to introduce a statutory duty of candour for health and social care services
This RCN response set out our agreement with the principles of transparency, honesty and openness that a duty of candour supports.  We also detailed our support for putting a duty of candour on a statutory footing to help close the gap between what is good practice and reality. A statutory organisational duty should be more effective at achieving a consistent approach across all health and care services than the individual duties imposed by related guidance and codes of professional conduct.
