This briefing was written for MSPs for a members' debate in the Scottish Parliament on 25 June 2015, on the fifth anniversary of the Family Nurse Partnership in NHS Lothian.
The Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) is a programme of structured home visits by specially trained nurses to young first time mothers.The first test site was in Edinburgh, starting in 2010. This briefing for MSPs in the Scottish Parliament gives the background to the FNP, information on the universal health visiting service and RCN Scotland's position on both.
