Trust, assurance and safety

On the 21 February the white paper on professional regulation was published, Trust, Assurance and Safety – the Regulation of Health Professionals in the 21st Century. The white paper will affect how nurses are regulated in the future.

Overall the RCN cautiously welcomes most of the proposals set out in this white paper. However we need much more detail on some to determine their impact. We also need to work with the government and other stakeholders in their implementation to ensure the process is fair, comparable across all health care settings and in line with professionally led regulations for nurses.
